VW to stop selling petrol and diesel cars in Norway from 2024

Big news coming from Norway where the official VW distributor announced they will stop selling fuel powered cars from 2024.

And you're right about the 5th gen - many people focus on the emissions and the planet - I'm not saying we shouldn't. I'm saying let's not forget how much more fun it can be to drive an electric or hybrid. In many - MANY - situations it is actually way more fun...

The rest of us just have to wait for those cars to get 5 years old - and there will be plenty of them about. By 2035 used electric car market will be ready to replace current situation. No, the cars won't be as cheap as they are now but they never get cheaper. Chin up, good times are ahead ;)

Well interesting reading.
Only major problem is half the planet earns less than 1000 in euros per month from which 40-70% goes to bills and most EV cars cost 10 000 up.
Better than average ones starts at 30 000.
Thats not a good look for the upcomming future and another giant financial crisis we have ahead.

They were trying to ride that hybrid wagon as long as they can - IMHO, not a bad thing by any means, as a bunch of hybrids on roads are a better thing than few EVs, but they underestimated the demand, push by customers and politics.
I can't wait to get my hands on 5th gen. Toyota Hybrid system, seems like a really nice upgrade, not really in terms of emissions, but more on the driver feel. I would trade ID.4 for Toyota Corolla 5th. gen. Hybrid GR 2.0, with adaptive suspension in a heartbeat (not taking price into consideration ofc.).

BTW, I would not delve on details like who had the first hybrid - If I am not mistaken, the first was Honda on the market. Same way, BZ4X is not the first EV made by Toyota, it was some sort of RAV4 version.

No idea what were they thinking... - and now have a lot of catching up to do. If we wait another 3-4 years there will be a decent market for electric cars with plenty of choice and some nice designs as well.

Well, considering the amount of VW sales in Norway, it's most likely cheaper for VW to end distribution for their petrol/diesel cars there anyway.
Unlike Toyota, VW did pretty much nothing when it comes to lowering CO2 in decades :-D You might not like it, but thanks to Toyota there were developed things every EV needs - like batteries, proper heating, efficiency, packaging etc.
Toyota and Tesla combined did 99% of the work other manufacturers are implementing right now for their EVs. When you compare it to Tesla, most of them do it really inefficiently, but they will get there eventually as well. The last thing I would like to own as an EV is ID.4.
