Xiaomi CEO sets ambitious SU7 Ultra sales target ahead of release

Vlad, 05 February 2025

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun has set an ambitious sales target of 10,000 units for the upcoming SU7 Ultra supercar throughout this year. The SU7 Ultra will be fully launched at the end of this month alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone.

Starting today, Xiaomi is showing the SU7 Ultra in 112 stores across 42 cities in China. Lei has told Xiaomi president Lu Weibing that he'd receive a bonus at the end of the year if the aggressive sales goal is met.

The SU7 Ultra was initially unveiled in October, which is also when pre-orders started. The company announced that it received 3,680 pre-orders within 10 minutes.

Xiaomi delivered more than 150,000 cars last year, and is targeting 300,000 in 2025. The SU7 Ultra obviously won't have a huge piece of that pie with its starting price of CNY 814,900 ($112,000), but it serves as a showcase of Xiaomi's EV making capabilities and as such it is an aspirational model that could bring many people to buy a non-Ultra SU7. Xiaomi is also expected to unveil the YU7, its first SUV, later this year.
