Nio's updated ES8 SUV with LiDAR spotted on the streets
A Chinese blogger posted a couple of spy photos on Weibo revealing Nio's large SUV with a LiDAR system, the ES8. The car is wrapped around with black camouflage, but some key design features are easy to recognize.
According to the tipster, the ES8 is much longer than the ES7 with a better third-row arrangement as well as a spacious front row. The taillights are largely different from the ES7 as well.
Judging by the roof's setup and the fact that the upcoming iteration is based on the NT 2.0 platform, the ES8 will likely ship with a LiDAR system by default. The system is operated by four Orin SoCs with a total computing power of 1,016 TOPs.
Nio is expected to upgrade its existing models to the NT 2.0 platform and enable more advanced features in order to boost sales in the second half of 2023. As of now, only the ES7, ET7 and ET5 are running the second-generation, but the ES8 will clearly be joining them soon.
