Peugeot e-3008 GT Electric real-life range test

The 3008 is one of Peugeot's best-selling vehicles and now for the first time ever it comes in fully electric flavor in the e-3008. It remains a small crossover SUV with extravagant styling both inside and out, only now it has a more slanted roofline for better aerodynamics.

We are testing the 73 kWh GT Electric version, which outputs 157 kW (210 hp) and accelerates to 62 mph in 8.8 seconds. Those are decent numbers for a city-oriented family vehicle and even the smallest offered battery pack is big enough to travel considerable distances.

Another FWD version with 98 kWh battery is coming later this year and it will inevitably have even greater range on a single charge, but we'll get to that one when we see it.

A dedicated review is on the way, but first let's examine how the Peugeot e-3008 performs in our range test. We drove our usual test routes, doing the same track both ways at constant speeds at the same place as with every other car we test. The ambient temperature while testing the Peugeot e-3008 GT Electric was 46°F, which was considerably colder than the ideal.
Even so at our lowest testing speed of 37 mph the Peugeot e-3008 shows fabulous efficiency for its size and the conditions and with a result of 5.4 mi/kWh can cover a distance of 383 miles on a single charge, which is solid for a model in this segment, particularly in sub-optimal weather.
At the next speed of 56 mph the e-3008 pulled off a range of almost 298 miles. This is more than most rivals and given that this is the base level battery pack the e-3008 will likely be a great choice for longer drives.
At the highest testing speed of 81 mph the e-3008's taller body increases consumption. So it doesn't make for a stellar highway cruiser, but it's not worse than its direct rivals either as they suffer the same issues.
Peugeot has done a great job electrifying the 3008, offering a decently capable drivetrain with very good efficiency. Range is not a problem even with the smaller battery, which is admittedly bigger than most rivals already. So the Peugeot is definitely worth a consideration - we'll have to complete the review to see if it's also worth a purchase.
