Rivian R1S DM LP gets 352 miles EPA range, R1T and RS1 now compatible with EVgo Autocharge+

Ro, 17 August 2023

After the Rivian R1T Dual Motor Large Pack configuration got a pretty solid 352 miles EPA rating, the same configuration for the R1S seems to be performing just as well. The R1S DM LP with 21-inch wheels can get you up to 352 miles away from the plug, while the 22-inch wheels reduce that EPA rating to 341 miles. The all-terrain tires with 20-inch wheels seem to have the biggest impact and they reduce the range to 307 miles.

Another interesting thing to note here is that the Dual-Motor version seems to be more efficient than the Quad-Motor alternative - by about 10%, to be exact. For context, the Quad-Motor iteration with Large Pack gets 316 miles EPA rating. Moreover, the Quad-Motor version is more expensive, so the Dual-Motor has a really strong case for itself.

In other news, the EVgo chain of chargers across the US announced that the Rivian R1S and R1T are now both supported by the Autocharge+ system. For those unaware, the Autocharge+ feature on EVgo stations allows drivers to plug and charge their vehicle without having to go through additional steps such as tapping a credit card or EVgo program card. There's no need for an app either - you drive in and charge.

EVgo's Autocharge+ is now compatible with 30 models and the customer feedback is great, says the company's press release. The Autocharge+ system accounts for about 13% of all charging sessions. The ease of use is the biggest driving factor.

Most vehicles with CCS adapters support the feature and even Tesla's cars can charge when using the CCS Combo 1 Adapter.
