Second-gen Tesla Roadster production delayed yet again
During Tesla's annual shareholder meeting yesterday, Elon Musk shared some long-term and short-term plans for the company. And in addition to the good news, there were some bad ones too. Musk said that Tesla is "building" another EV that will be unveiled very soon and also said that the second-gen Tesla Roadster's production is delayed yet again.
Originally announced back in 2017, the car was supposed to hit the streets in 2020, but it's 2023 and it's nowhere near achieving that. In fact, the vehicle hasn't gone into production at all. Even though Musk said this isn't a promise to investors, he hopes that the engineering and design will be finished until the end of this year, with production starting in 2024.
The silver lining for the investors is that the Roadster will likely be a very modest contributor to Tesla's profits, making it more of a tech showcase and prestige than anything else.
