Spy shots reveal interior of BYD-backed Denza Z9 GT
Denza, the electric vehicle brand with ties to both Mercedes-Benz and Chinese powerhouse BYD, is getting ready to shake up the premium EV segment with its upcoming flagship EV, the Z9 GT. With a potent tri-motor setup, a spacious, tech-filled interior, and a sleek profile, the Z9 GT wants to redefine what an electric performance wagon can be.
Spy photos have surfaced, giving us a first glimpse inside the Denza Z9 GT ahead of its Chinese market launch in mid-2024 and European arrival in 2025. The interior promises the same level of luxury as Mercedes-Benz vehicles but is infused with the technological prowess BYD is known for.
A trio of digital displays dominates the dashboard. Drivers will interact with a dedicated LCD instrument panel, while a massive floating infotainment screen takes center stage. Passengers also get their own integrated entertainment display for a premium experience on longer journeys.
Upholstery in beige and brown adds a touch of sophistication, though it's likely other color combinations will be available to buyers. A unique crystal-like gear selector adds a dash of opulence as the centerpiece of the minimalist console.
The Z9 GT is a sizable machine stretching over 197 inches in length with a wheelbase exceeding 118 inches. These generously spacious specs hint at ample room for passengers and cargo while maintaining a sporty low stance. Its design shares DNA with the Denza N7 SUV but takes on a sleeker and more aerodynamic form.
BYD has pulled out all the stops, equipping the Z9 GT with a potent tri-motor configuration. A single 230 kW motor powers the front wheels, while two 240 kW motors drive the rear, generating a combined power output of a staggering 710 kW. This power is sent to the road through all four wheels, allowing the hefty 6,338 lb Z9 GT to sprint to a limited top speed of 149 mph.
This kind of performance demands a large battery pack, and BYD delivers with its proprietary blade battery technology. While the official capacity remains a mystery, expect it to offer an impressive range alongside the thrilling performance.
