SNE Research: Global EV battery market doubled in 2021

According to SNE Research the global EV installed battery capacity has more than doubled in 2021 compared to 2020. In fact, in December alone, the total GWh grew some 53.2% sequentially to 43.7 GWh. In 2021 the total battery capacity deployed on all commercial vehicles (BEVs, PHEVs, HEVs) was 298.8 GWh, a 102.3% increase over 2020.

The global battery market has doubled in 2021, according to market analysts

About a third of those were manufactured by CATL, recording an impressive 168% growth year-over-year. The Chinese manufacturer shipped 96.7 GWh worth of batteries. LG Chem takes the second position with 60.2 GWh (75.5% growth) and the third-place takes Panasonic with 36.1 GWh deployed and a relatively modest growth of 33.5%. The Chinese BYD is getting pretty close to Panasonic with an impressive 167.7% growth and 26.3 GWh shipped.

8. Guoxuan - 6.4 GWh (up 161.3%) and 2.1% share
9. Envision AESC - 4.2 GWh (up 7.8%) and 1.4% share
10. SVOLT - 3.1 GWh (up 430.8%) and 1.0% share
