The battery catches on fire -- game over. China has plenty of EV batt fires. All are spontaneous. As you may know, el. batt fire is impossible to extinguish. The best you can do is to keep it from spreading. If I imagine somebody being inside the car I just cannot bring myself to even think of purchasing an EV.

Battery lease is a great option. You basically pay the entire battery in 7-9 yrs, but you drive and charge as much as you need to and its hassle free, no repairs to worry about, no battery degradation, no out of warranty battery fails, etc..
