Winter range test of the Kia EV3 Long Range goes great

Ever wondered what range the Kia EV3 can get, especially in the wintertime? Well, thanks to Swedish EV channel CarExplorers, we have an answer. Their team put the EV through its paces and revealed both the range, the charging experience, and the overall experience.

The car in the test is the Long Range front wheel drive version, which has an 81.4 kWh battery with a WLTP range of 350 miles and a single front-mounted motor with 150 kW (204 hp).

The range test was done at 50 mph and 75 mph, both times with a full battery.

The Kia EV3 Long Range would manage around 252 miles at 50 mph. Consumption was 19.2 kWh per 62 miles. This test was done for a total distance of 43 miles at -3 °C.

The car would be able to do around 203 miles at 75 mph. Consumption was 23.8 kWh per 62 miles for the 87 miles the team did. The temperature outside was 5 °C.

During testing, the guys over at CarExplorers kept the interior at 21 °C.

A word on charging. The EV3 supports CCS 135 kW and can go from 10% to 80% for around 33 minutes. The car managed to reach 135 kW with a relatively flat charging curve - great! Check the full video below!
