Xiaomi confirmed March 19 launch of the updated SU7 with 902-km range
Not that long ago, Xiaomi announced a major update for its first vehicle, the SU7 sedan. Xiaomi spent about two years working on these changes to make the car better for drivers. The update shows that the company is serious about competing with the biggest names in the automotive industry, and is no longer a phone company playing with home appliances.
The big day for the new model has been confirmed as March 19 - that's when the updated Xiaomi SU7 officially goes on sale. If you are in China and are looking to buy one, you should know the price. The car will cost between RMB 229,900 and RMB 309,900 - roughly $33,320 to $44,910. This price range helps the SU7 stay competitive against other popular EVs. Xiaomi clearly wants to make sure people feel like they are getting a lot of high-tech features without spending a fortune.

One of the biggest changes is that both Standard and Pro versions of the SU7 now use a 752V system. If you step up to the top-tier Max model, you get an 897V system. These high numbers mean the car can move energy around more efficiently. They also mean the car's battery does not get as hot when it is working hard. Most importantly, the new systems allow the car to charge its battery much faster than older models.
Xiaomi seems to understand that nobody wants to sit at a charging station for hours. The Max version of the SU7 is a real star in this category. According to the company, this model can add 416 miles of driving range in just 15 minutes. It seems Xiaomi wants to make sure you spend more time on the road and less time staring at a charging cable.

The distance the car can travel on a single charge is also impressive. The Standard version of the SU7 can travel 447 miles before it needs more power. The Max model can go 519 miles, but the Pro version is the true marathon runner of the group - it can travel 560 miles on a full charge. These numbers are based on the CLTC cycle, which is the standard way China measures driving distance. In reality, we should expect closer to 70% to 80% of that range - which is still substantial.
Every version of the new SU7 now uses the V6S Plus electric motors. This is a change from before, when different models had different motors. By using the same motor for every car, Xiaomi makes its factory work more smoothly. The company says these motors are now more powerful than the old ones, though they did not give the exact power numbers in kW yet.

Since Xiaomi started as a software company, it makes sense that the SU7 is very smart. Every version of the car now uses the same computer hardware for driving assistance. The car features a computer system that can perform 700 trillion operations per second. This powerful "brain" runs the Xiaomi HAD software, helping the car stay safe on the road by watching for obstacles and helping with steering.
The more expensive versions of the SU7 now come with a dual-chamber air suspension. This system also includes adjustable dampers that can change how stiff they are depending on the road. These upgrades help the car stay flat and stable when you take a sharp turn.
The new SU7 has already arrived in showrooms across China
If you look at the outside of the car, you might not see many changes. It still has the same sleek shape that people liked when it first came out. Xiaomi is offering nine different colors now, giving buyers plenty of ways to make their car look unique. Inside, the changes are also small but helpful. The center console has new buttons and controls that are easier to reach.
Xiaomi did not sell many cars in February 2026 - only 218 units were sold that month. That might look like a failure, but it was actually on purpose - the factory had to slow down so workers could change the machines to build the new version. It was a short break to get ready for a big launch, and the new model has already arrived in showrooms across China. Now that the updated SU7 is ready, Xiaomi is hoping to see those sales numbers climb back up very quickly.
