Xiaomi unveils its EV factory ahead of the SU7's official launch

Xiaomi officially announced its SU7 all-electric sedan in December last year, and it's set to go on sale on March 28. Ahead of that Xiaomi decided to officially announce that it now has a fully functioning factory, where its first EV will be built.

In a Weibo post, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun said that the board meeting was held at Xiaomi's new EV factory and even posted a photo of the factory itself.

However, Reuters reported a while back that BAIC is looking for approval to build Xiaomi EVs in China, which raise a question whether the factory in the photo is actually Xiaomi's or just a BAIC factory with a Xiaomi logo on top.

The new electric sedan still has no official price tag, but a recent report from a Chinese media cited RMB 259,000 ($35,900) for one of its configurations. If true, the SU7 may turn out to be a very competitive EV, even in the Chinese market.

Being an African is mess our leaders are all sleeping... The love I have for tech and the country I'm in is a complete waste of life. Xiaomi is manufacturing cars, wish I will be there to see the launching.
