Zeekr introduces G-Pilot autonomous driving technology

Zeekr has unveiled its new G-Pilot intelligent driver assistance system, setting an ambitious goal of becoming a leader in vehicle automation. The G-Pilot promises to deliver a suite of features that are better than those offered by industry giants like Huawei and BYD. The system will be available in different tiers tailored to vehicle models and customer needs.

The all-new G-Pilot system offers some of the most powerful computing capabilities. The top-tier G-Pilot H9 will debut in the Zeekr 9X flagship SUV. It uses dual Nvidia Drive AGX Thor chips, providing a combined computing power of 1,400 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second). This much processing power allows for complex calculations and real-time decision-making, essential for advanced autonomous driving features.

To put things in perspective - BYD's best God's Eye system offers "only" 600 TOPS. In addition to the powerful chips, the G-Pilot H9 has a comprehensive sensor suite, including 13 cameras, three mmWave radars, and multiple LiDAR sensors. This combination of sensors and processing power enables the system to perceive its surroundings with high accuracy.

The G-Pilot system allows the vehicle to navigate complex driving scenarios without relying on pre-mapped data, and adapt to changing road conditions and traffic patterns. The system also includes an AI parking spot searching function and Full-Capacity Vehicle-to-Parking (V2P) drive, which automates the parking process. The top-tier G-Pilot H9 includes the General Automated Evasion System (G-AES), designed to help avoid collisions. The G-Pilot H9 is classified as an L3-ready system, meaning it is designed to handle more complex driving tasks with less driver intervention.

The Zeekr 9X, a full-size luxury SUV built on the brand's ZEEA 3.0 architecture, will be the first vehicle to feature the G-Pilot H9 system. The 9X is scheduled to be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in late April, with sales expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025. A luxury variant, called the 9X Grand, will have a price tag exceeding 1 million RMB (approximately $140,000).

For vehicles in lower price ranges, Zeekr will offer the G-Pilot H7 system. This system includes a single LiDAR sensor, 11 cameras, three mmWave radars, and dual Nvidia Orin X chips, providing 508 TOPS of computing power - nearly as much as Huawei's top-of-the-range God's Eye A. The Zeekr 001 will be the first vehicle to feature the G-Pilot H7, which also supports the G-AES system.
