2023 BMW iX1 AWD spotted testing in the snow
Both BMW EV SUVs available now - the bigger iX and the medium sized iX3 - were greatly received by fans of the German automaker. Not to miss an opportunity, BMW is applying the same recipe and cooking up the smallest SUV in the range, the iX1. Built on the FAAR platform it comes in EV, hybrid and pure ICE versions. And now all three were spotted winter testing at BMW’s test center in Sweden.
The more expensive versions of the iX1 will come with twin-motor setup and xDrive AWD. BMW is keeping most of the details of the new car secret but few bits leaked - for example WLTP range is going to be 438km (272 miles) for the single motor version. The twin-motor versions will likely have lower range and of course substantially more power. Interestingly though, the new iX1 will be assembled in Leipzig in Germany, at the same production facility as the upcoming Mini Countryman EV meaning the two will share a lot of technology.
With the winter testing all wrapped up, BMW is continuing the final evaluation of the model and preparing it for global release.
Since you couldn't join the BMW engineers for winter testing of the iX1, we got you some photos from Sweden - enjoy!
