2024 Kia EV9 full US specifications revealed

Kia just revealed specifications of its 2024 EV9 large electric SUV for the US market. The Georgia-built electric chariot starts with the EV9 Light. That's still equipped with LED lights, rain-sensing wipers, 19-inch alloys, and acoustic front glass. The interior offers SynTex upholstery and dual 12.3-inch displays for instruments and entertainment, with a separate 5-inch screen exclusively for climate control.

In the power department, the EV9 Light comes with a smaller 76.1 kWh battery to keep the costs down, a single electric motor with a power output of 215 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. That's enough grunt to get you from 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds. The range sits at 223 miles, with rapid DC charging getting you from 10-80% in under 25 minutes.

We then have the Light Long Range variant with a beefier 99.8 kWh battery and an upgraded range of 300 miles. Sure, you’re sacrificing a smidge of speed here due to the extra weight, but this will likely be the best-seller in the range.

The next trim in the lineup is the Wind - the fun uncle of the EV9 series. Visually distinct with a panoramic roof and slick roof rails, it offers all-wheel drive, thanks to a dual-motor setup and that 99.8 kWh battery from the Long Range. This combination churns out 379 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph is achieved in a crisp 5 seconds.

The EV9 Land sprinkles some luxury on top. Kia elevates the game with "Small Cube" LED headlights, an illuminated grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, and the piece de resistance - a Vehicle-to-Load exterior outlet. With a 270 miles range (unless you opt for those alluring 20-inch wheels), the EV9 Land offers a plush six-seat interior, mood lighting, and a 14-speaker premium audio system. It's the SUV you didn’t know you needed until now.

Reserved for those who love the 'extra' in 'extraordinary', the EV9 GT-Line is the cherry on the EV9 cake. Adorned with 21-inch wheels, unique fascias, and suede cloth finishes, it introduces the LiDAR system with Advanced Highway Driving Assist. Granted, its 243 miles range isn’t amazing.

Kia's new EV9 lineup promises to be a game-changer in the electric SUV segment. And while the exact price tags still remain an enigma, the anticipation for the “first mainstream three-row EV SUV” is palpable. The EV9 will be crafted right in West Point, Georgia. A testament to the fusion of innovation and homegrown manufacturing. And a shrewd move on Kia’s behalf, making sure the EV9 qualifies for the federal EV tax credit.

I have a strange feeling that KIA will make a lot of progress with this model…
