AAWireless unveils TWO+ adapter for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Tired of plugging in your phone every time you hop in the car just to get your maps or music on the dashboard screen? For many drivers, the convenience of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto has been tethered by a pesky USB cable. AAWireless, a company that carved out a niche helping Android users cut that cord, is now inviting iPhone loyalists to the wireless party with its new AAWireless TWO+ adapter, making its debut on Indiegogo.

The quest for a cleaner car cabin, free from the spaghetti junction of charging cables and data cords, is a modern automotive desire. In an era where even some new electric cars aim for minimalist interiors, a dangling wire can feel like an anachronism. The AAWireless TWO+ is here to solve this first-world problem by offering a single, compact dongle that promises seamless wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems. This means families or individuals who switch between iPhones and Android devices might finally have one gadget to rule them all.

For the past five years, AAWireless has focused its efforts solely on the Android Auto ecosystem, building a reputation for its wireless adapters. With the TWO+, the company is venturing into new territory. The device plugs into the car's USB port dedicated to the wired CarPlay or Android Auto. Once paired, your phone then connects wirelessly to the TWO+ upon starting the car, bringing your familiar interface to the vehicle's display without needing to fish your phone out of your pocket or bag. This level of convenience is something many owners of modern vehicles, including the tech-savvy drivers of EVs, have come to expect.

Beyond just bridging the wireless gap, the AAWireless TWO+ incorporates a multifunctional button. This allows users to manually switch between connected phones, enter a standby mode, initiate pairing with a new device, or perform a factory reset – handy features for a shared device. AAWireless also claims the TWO+ is "future-ready," with plans for regular over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates delivered via a companion app.

The early release phase on Indiegogo comes with exclusive "early-backer pricing" across various limited tiers. A single dongle will set you back £26 at the moment, since the £22 "early bird" deal sold out in minutes. Deliveries are planned for July, so there isn't much waiting involved.

No specific dimensions for the dongle have been released, but such devices are typically designed to be unobtrusive. While the prospect of being a beta tester might give some pause, for others, the chance to be among the first to experience this dual-platform wireless convenience, and potentially snag a discount, will be a strong lure. It's a strategy that also serves as a nod to the Indiegogo community, which AAWireless credits with helping its journey from the start.
