Jeep accidentally leaks photos of Wagoneer S

Jeep has been teasing the all-new, all-electric Wagoneer S, but this latest one was not meant to go out just yet. Pictures of the upcoming EV were posted on the company's social channels and even though they were later removed they stayed long enough for people to download and reshare them.

The images reveal that while the new Wagoneer S retains some classic Jeep styling, the car is sleeker and more svelte than anything to come from the American maker before.

Recessed door handles promise to enhance its aerodynamic performance. The Wagoneer S also flaunts a rear spoiler that extends from the roof over the rear windshield.

The two-tone paint finish looks great and the panoramic sunroof is great news for those who like the feeling of extra roominess. All in all, the Wagoneer S presents itself as a rather handsome-looking EV, poised to give other luxury electric SUVs a run for their money when it hits the market later this year.

Despite carrying the Wagoneer name, this electric variant seems closer in size to the Grand Cherokee than its namesake suggests. Underneath its elegant exterior lies a dual-motor 4xe drivetrain, delivering formidable 600 horsepower and an eye-popping 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds suggest that the Wagoneer S will be a truly capable beast on the road.

Nevertheless, Jeep enthusiasts need not fret, for the Wagoneer S still retains its off-road DNA. Equipped with an all-terrain management system as standard, it promises to handle light off-road obstacles with ease. However, for those seeking a truly electrified off-road experience, it might be worth waiting for the upcoming Recon model, also slated for release this year.

The Wagoneer S is a hugely important milestone for Jeep, as it's set to become the brand's first fully electric vehicle in the United States. Jeep has already ventured into the EV market in Europe with the compact Avenger EV. Wagoneer S is set to be manufactured at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico and is based on the just-unveiled STLA Large architecture, which will serve as the foundation for several new EVs from Stellantis by 2026.

With impressive performance credentials and a commitment to retaining its off-road prowess, the Wagoneer S has a decent chance to make a significant impact in the American electric vehicle market. We'll make sure to keep an eye on that one.
