BMW i5 M60 range test
This latest car we've got for review is an exciting one! The BMW i5 in its more capable M60 version hopes to become the new benchmark for family sedans. While we still need to run a bunch more tests to see how good it is overall we've already got the consumption numbers for you.
The BMW i5 M60 has a usable battery capacity of 81.2 kWh (83.9 kWh total capacity) and a WLTP rating of 318 miles, while EPA rates it at 256 miles. That's short of the 362 miles/295 miles the eDrive40 claims, but that's the price to pay for 3.8s 0-62 mph acceleration and 143 mph top speed.
Two important things we need to mention - the testing was carried out at 37°F, which is significantly below the optimal temperature. The BMW i5 was also shod in Continental WinterContact TS 860 S winter tires, which have a "C" fuel efficiency rating. The highway we use for our testing was perfectly dry, though.
Those things considered the 37 mph consumption is decent - in fact it's lower than what its direct rival, the EQE AMG, managed in significantly better condition.
As the speed picks up the BMW i5 M60 does even better, demonstrating impressive aerodynamic efficiency.
We now suggest you use the widget below to find out the BMW i5 M60's range in every combination of speed and temperature you might need. We've used our real world tests and a complex model to provide estimate that should be as close to the actual performance as possible.

Bjorn tested BMW i4 M50 and did 285 km at 2 deg C with 120 km/h speed. This i5 M60 seems to be quite better doing 329 km at 130 km/h.
