Lotus Emeya super sedan announced
The Lotus Emeya made its grand entrance at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show in China. This super sedan is a product of the collaborative expertise of Lotus Technologies and Geely. Deliveries are expected to start in the first half of 2024 in China and will eventually reach European markets by 2025.
The Emeya is the second EV by Lotus, following the Eletre SUV, and it packs impressive 905 horsepower.
Lotus Emeya' has its battery beneath its central section to achieve a near-perfect 50:50 axle weight distribution. That should, in turn, deliver great balance when cornering and responsive driving experience.
The Emeya also features a rear spoiler and a diffuser that help deliver extra downforce at high speeds.
Inside, the Emeya has a slightly flattened wheel, extensive control screen, and 55-inch AR HUD blend futuristic tech with premium comfort. The car’s interior, adorned with Nappa leather and Ultrafabrics, exudes a sense of luxury that matches its external prowess.
This electric super sedan sits on the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) platform, an enhanced version of Geely's SEA platform. Its size is commanding, over 200.8 inches in length, offering ample space for five occupants. The two powertrain options – 450 kW and 675 kW both sound like a lot of fun.
Lotus's 800V architecture promises rapid charging capabilities – you can gain 112 miles of range in just 5 minutes as per the company's official claims. The 102 kWh battery itself is supplied by CATL.
While the price of the Emeya is yet to be confirmed, it's expected to be around RMB 1 million (approximately $137,000). This positions the Emeya as a luxury offering, yet it almost sounds cheap considering the performance numbers.
