BYD to get 20% of its 2025 sales overseas, forecast suggests

The Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post has published a forecast that 20% of BYD's global sales in 2025 will be attributed to exports. It's estimated that the carmaker will make 800,000 to 1 million deliveries outside of China this year, which is about 20% of the projected 4.6 million total sales.

BYD's 20% of 2025 sales are exports, forecast suggests

Still, the 4.6 million forecast is adjusted by 16%, since BYD is facing its slowest yearly growth in five years. This appears to be in line with the slowing Chinese EV sales. As a result, the analyst believes that BYD's exports will make a greater contribution in the future.

BYD's global efforts further explain this. The company recently pledged that every BYD car sold in Europe will be built on the continent by 2028. The Chinese car manufacturer even toppled Tesla in Europe this July. Part of BYD's success is its own car-carrier fleet.

In comparison, BYD's exports in 2024 accounted for less than 10% of its total shipments, which were 4.6 million.
