Chery reveals new Exeed ES7 GT, ES8, ET8, and ET9 as well as advanced solid-state battery plans

Chery just held a big event to show off the future of its luxury brand, Exeed. The company introduced four new electric cars: the ES7 GT, ES8, ET8, and ET9. These vehicles are part of a plan to help the brand sell more cars after a slow year. From January to November, Exeed sold 97,706 vehicles, which is about 24 percent less than the year before. To turn things around, Chery is packing the new EVs with high-tech features and serious performance.

The Exeed ES7 GT is a sleek "shooting brake" model, which looks like a sporty station wagon. It uses an extended-range electric powertrain with three motors. This setup allows the car to go from zero to 62 mph in less than three seconds. Drivers won't have to worry about running out of power quickly, as it has a total range of 1,056 miles. It also uses 1,000V fast charging, which allows it to add as much as 280 miles of driving range in just five minutes - providing you can find a compatible charging station.

Another sporty model is the Exeed ES8. This car is designed to cut through the wind easily with a drag coefficient of 0.22 Cd. But its claim to fame is the new solid-state battery. This new battery technology could give the car a range of 620 miles on a single charge. The ES8 also has four-wheel steering to help it turn better in tight spots. Inside, it features a 15.6-inch screen and a smart computer system powered by a Qualcomm chip and Huawei software.

For families who need more space, Chery showed two large SUVs. The Exeed ET8 is a big six-seater with a boxy shape. It focuses on comfort with "4D" massage seats and a sound system that has 31 speakers. The even fancier Exeed ET9 is the flagship model. This luxury SUV has rear-hinged "coach doors," similar to a Rolls-Royce. It can perform a "tank turn," which means it can spin around in one spot. It even has seats that rotate and a system that makes extra oxygen for the people inside.

Safety and smart driving are also a big part of these new EVs. Chery plans to put its Falcon driving system in all four models. By 2026, the company hopes to reach Level 3 autonomous driving, which allows the car to handle most driving tasks on its own. Chery will also start testing the Rhino S all-solid-state battery next year.

The first of these new models will hit the market in about 10 months. The other three will follow within the next 20 months. Chery is working hard to compete with other big brands and wants Exeed to be known for luxury and smart technology. Quite a few people commented on social media that the names of the cars are very similar to those from Nio, but Chery is confident that its new technology and fast charging will be enough to make its new electric cars stand out.
