GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 gets more range and more towing capacity

Deliveries of the premium, limited-edition version of GMC's 2024 Sierra EV, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, are finally going to start this summer, the brand has announced today. GMC says its dealers are currently working with Edition 1 reservation holders on the ordering process. The final starting MSRP is $99,495, including a $1,995 destination charge.

Ahead of the launch, the car has received improvements in a bunch of important areas: more range, more towing capacity, more payload, and a CrabWalk mode.

So, let's dive in. The EV will have a GM-estimated 440 miles of range, up from the initial estimate of 400 miles for the 2024 model year. Towing capacity will be 10,000 lb, an increase of 500 lb, while max payload will be 1,450 lb, up from the initial estimate of 1,300 lb.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 comes with GM-estimated 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque in Max Power mode, support for DC charging up to 350 kW (which enables 100 miles of range in 10 minutes), an adaptive air suspension, four-wheel steering, and GMC's first MultiPro MidGate, providing a maximum load floor length of 11 feet / 3.3m with the MidGate down and the MultiPro Tailgate's load-stop open.

There's also Super Cruise, which GMC bills as "the industry's first truly hands-free advanced driver assistance technology to offer trailering". This is expected to be available on about 750,000 miles of compatible roads in the US and Canada by the end of next year.
