Here's our best look yet at the upcoming BMW Neue Klasse X crossover
BMW will give us all the details about its Neue Klasse X concept tomorrow - March 21 - but today we have our best look yet at the crossover.
BMW's 'New Class' will span 6 EVs across different classes - an iX3-sized SUV, an i3 expected in both sedan and wagon and more, all with aggressive styling that reminds us of retro BMW models. BMW has teased that the new class will feature 30% more range, 30% faster charging, and a 25% improvement in efficiency.
In the case of the Neue Klasse X, it's expected to be an iX3 replacement. While BMW could scrap some of the concept's design elements, it can't be far from production now. That means the new "shark nose" front, squared-off wheel arches, and sloping panoramic glass roof might make it to the final product.
Interestingly, there are no door handles, which points to retractable ones. The side mirrors are cameras. There's a big roof spoiler at the back.
The iDrive controller is reportedly gone, and you'll mostly interact with the new tenth-gen infotainment screen. This is part of BMW's "less is more" philosophy, which we expect many people will strongly dislike.
The Neue Klasse SUV is expected to go on sale and start production in 2025, followed by the Neue Klasse sedan in 2026. More models are scheduled to show up by 2028.
