Hummer EV gets $6,250 more expensive on Saturday

After the coronavirus pandemic, we're seeing a new pandemic of sorts in the EV world, and that's the price hike pandemic. Seemingly every day now we get news about a new maker raising the prices of its vehicles, and today it's GMC's turn, and we're talking about the Hummer EV.

Now this wasn't a cheap EV to begin with, but starting on Saturday, June 18, it will become $6,250 more expensive in its base level trim. So the new entry prices are $86,245 for the EV2 trim, $96,245 for the EV2X trim, and $106,245 for the top of the line EV3X trim.

GMC received about 77,500 reservations for the Hummer EV so far, of which 12,500 came since April alone. And yet, in what is quickly becoming a theme for a lot of EV makers, it's struggling with ramping up production.

Reservation holders who placed or had an active order before Saturday got to sidestep the price increase, but all orders placed starting on Saturday will be with the new prices. Let's see who's next on the price hike train.

inb4 another battery issue either from charging or just random fire spontaneous combustion as us EVs are getting known for. gg gmc for keeping your legacy going

Manufacturing costs aren't rising. They are simply getting greedy.
