Kia to unveil purpose-built EVs at CES 2024
Kia is making a bold return to CES after a five-year hiatus, promising to unveil a lineup of purpose-built EVs. Blending fit-for-purpose EVs with cutting-edge software and hardware innovations is what the Korean company promises to deliver at the start of next month.
Kia's upcoming PBV lineup, set to be showcased at CES starting January 9, is poised to open doors to new business possibilities.
Kia plans to present five purpose-built EVs at CES, each catering to different market segments. Among them is a debut model slated for mass production in 2025. The lineup will include vehicles for delivery services, ride-hailing and B2B applications. The small PBV, set to be unveiled at CES, is just the beginning of Kia's electric revolution.
The PBVs will use the new "eS" platform. Kia's roadmap includes larger versions catering to fresh-food delivery, logistics, shuttles, and even mobile offices.
The company built a $758 million PBV factory in South Korea, which is expected to commence production in the second half of 2025.
Kia isn't entering the purpose-built EV arena blindly. Drawing inspiration from industry giants like Ford, GM, and Rivian, the company aims to assist massive corporations, including Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, and UPS, in transitioning their fleets to electric.
