Mercedes teases EQE SUV before its debut this Sunday

Max McDee, 13 October 2022

The debut of the long awaited, much teased and all but already discovered Mercedes EQE SUV is happening this Sunday, October 16 at 8 PM CEST (2 PM ET). With all the teaser photos we have had this far, with all the spy shots and renderings, there is very little of a surprise left for the Mercedes but it will be an event worth watching anyway.

Mercedes is preparing to put on one heck of a show this Sunday. The entire EQ family will be on display in the gardens of the Musee Rodin in Paris, France. There will be prototypes and concept cars as well, to showcase the future of electric motoring from Mercedes, the AMG is joining the show as well, with its own creations. This two-day event is not to be missed.

The final teaser shows the front of the EQE SUV in its full glory, Mercedes did try to darken it a bit but it really isn’t a problem - here it is:

No surprises there at all, exactly what the world is expecting from possibly the future most popular electric SUV with a three-pointed star. We are expecting the same powertrains that we already know from the EQE, since both the cars share the architecture and all the mechanical components.

The most powerful version will most likely be the AMG EQE 53 SUV with the twin-motor AWD system and its 677 HP (506 kW), this option will be the priciest as well. The slightly more affordable will be the AMG EQE 43 SUV with two motors again but running slightly less power at 469 HP (350 kW).

As for the non-AMG lineup, we will see the EQE 350 SUV for sure with its 292 HP single-motor RWD and most likely with the updated 90 kWh battery pack. The question is - will Mercedes introduce the lowest entry model, the EQE SUV 300? With its 245 HP electric motor the car could be capable of 600 km of range at a slightly more friendly price.

Mercedes already showed the interior of the EQE SUV and the car will be as plush and comfy as any Mercedes before it. The advantage over the EQE will be the rear space - legroom should benefit a bit but it’s the headroom that will see the biggest difference - not that it ever was an issue but the EQE does have a rather sloping roofline.

This design is great for aerodynamic reasons and the vehicle’s range gets a great boost because of that but taller passengers have to pay the price.

Three more days and we’ll see the EQE SUV in its full glory, in many different trims with many different options. Hopefully Mercedes will reveal the pricing at the same time. By revealing the car, Mercedes delivers on its promise of having an electric car in every segment of its portfolio before the end of this year.
