Tesla's Robotaxi to debut on October 10 at Warner Bros Studio
Tesla is set to unveil its much-anticipated Robotaxi at an event on October 10, a new Bloomberg report claims. The iconic Warner Bros. Discovery movie studio in Burbank, California is the chosen site in a rare move away from Tesla's usual Giga Texas facility.
The Burbank location, with its simulated suburban neighborhood and controlled environment, is an ideal setting to showcase the Robotaxi's capabilities in a realistic yet managed scenario.
The selection of Warner Bros. also harkens back to a previous Tesla event in 2016, where the company unveiled its solar roof product at Universal Studios. While the solar roof faced delays and challenges (which Tesla's product hasn't?), Tesla is undoubtedly hoping for a smoother journey for its Robotaxi.
The Robotaxi is envisioned as part of a broader ride-hailing network powered by both purpose-built vehicles and consumer Teslas equipped with Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities. The October 10 event may offer more insights into this vision and the technology underpinning it.
The Warner Bros studio's 110-acre lot, complete with sound stages and a mock suburban neighborhood, will provide a unique and fitting environment for the Robotaxi's debut.
Tesla's choice to map the area extensively in high detail is hoped to help provide a seamless demonstration. By controlling the environment and minimizing potential hiccups, Tesla aims to present a compelling vision of the future of autonomous transportation.
The robotaxi's journey to this unveiling has not been without its bumps. Initial plans for an August reveal were reportedly delayed due to design changes and prototype development. While Musk has confidently predicted the advent of fully autonomous vehicles in the near future, the reality remains complex. The robotaxi, even if it was to perform well in the streets will likely also face a number of regulatory hurdles.

How many robotaxi will be sold? maybe 5% of model3 sales per year. If they had put the effort to release a proper $25k car, it would sell twice as much as model 3.
