Alpine A390_β concept gives us a sneak peek at its sporty SUV for 2025
Renault's sub-brand Alpine revealed its A390_β concept, a complete departure from its current Alpine A290 hot hatch, found in Europe for less than €40,000. The new concept gives us a good idea of how Alpine's future fully electric SUV will look next year.
In fact, Alpine says the interior of the A390_β will match about 85% of the production vehicle's cabin. It's clearly sporty-oriented with a rectangular steering wheel and driving seat. Both are inspired by the mountains, as befits the Alpine brand. It will also feature carbon-fibre floor to cut down on weight. The panoramic glass roof gives the cabin a bit more spacious vibe.
The exterior has aggressive and aerodynamic-friendly lines. The back design features fully illuminated LED lightbar, in line with recent design trends, and the front adopts similar styling.
Sadly, Alpine doesn't go into much detail about the vehicle's powertrain and only mentions three motors - two at the back and one at the front. The drivetrain will feature dynamic torque control, and a two-motor version will be discussed.
The future A390 will compete against the likes of BMW iX2 and Porsche Macan so we can expect a power output close to 600 hp and range of around 298 miles. To be frank, this sounds very ambitious, given that the SUV will be based on Renault's AmpR Medium platform, underpinning the Megane and Scenic. But bigger wheels, extra output, bigger body and better brakes might be enough to elevate the A390 above those.

That's actually a pretty car, but is not an SUV. Renault seem to be hitting a target with their new designs
