Nissan now fully owns its Formula E team

Vlad, 12 April 2022

At the end of March FIA unveiled the names of the first seven teams that will race in Formula E next season, and among them was Nissan. Today it has been revealed that the Japanese car maker has acquired full ownership of its Formula E team, purchasing the stake of its former partner in the venture, e.dams.

Prior to the purchase of the e.dams stake, Nissan had a minority share in the team, which began life at Renault, Nissan's sister brand from the Renault-Nissan alliance.

Nissan now fully owns its Formula E team

Nissan described going all-in on the Formula E team as a "natural step" in its Ambition 2030 plan that aims to launch 23 electric models, including 15 new EVs, and achieve 100% electrification by 2030.

Discussions to purchase the team have been ongoing "for some time", according to The Race. The new ownership won't immediately affect the structure of the team.
