Renault is set to imminently unveil a small affordable electric city car
According to "three sources familiar with the matter", Renault is all set to unveil a small affordable electric city car on November 15. That's hours from now.
This EV will be smaller than the planned Renault 5 EV. It's expected to be built at Renault's Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, which also builds the Twingo ICE car. With that in mind, this could very well be a Twingo EV of sorts.
This model will go on sale in 2026, according to the already quoted anonymous sources, and as such will be one of six new EV models Renault intends to launch by 2030.
Renault's EV unit, Ampere, wants to make 600,000 EVs per year in 2026 and one million in 2031. Last year, Renault sold 50,000 EVs, so those goals are definitely optimistic.
