Tesla CyberCab/Robotaxi wireless charging shown in new official video

Vlad, 19 October 2024

Tesla unveiled a pipe dream recently, and it still can't even decide whether it's called Robotaxi or CyberCab (or is that Cybercab?). This isn't an actual finalized, ready to ship product, mind you, or anything near that, it's an idea - one that Elon Musk hopes will help drive Tesla's next big hype cycle (which should keep the stock price rising and make him richer and richer by the day).

Now you can take a look at a short video showing you how this concept product charges wirelessly. It's an official video shared by Tesla, and it sure looks pretty. That's as much as we can say about it considering the fact that it shows the idea of a fully autonomous vehicle fully autonomously using some sort of wireless charger to magically charge itself up.

Everything you see here is very far from production, let alone roaming the streets. That doesn't mean it won't happen - but don't forget how much the Cybertruck (Tesla's previous hype cycle driver) was delayed. And that vehicle doesn't drive itself. And has a steering wheel (of sorts). And pedals. You get the idea, hopefully.

So, maybe the world will be filled with these CyberRoboThingies in ten years, or maybe not. It's way too early to tell, but it's clear they aren't going anywhere soon, and so it's great that this video is just 14 seconds long.
