Tesla launches a new lower-trim Cybertruck Long Range RWD version for $70,000

Ro, 11 April 2025

Tesla has officially launched a new entry-level Cybertruck configuration, which is more expensive than the initially promised $61,000 version, but still considerably cheaper than the $80,000 AWD variant. It's asking $70,000 before incentives.

The good news is that this new version promises 350 miles of range, but uses a single rear-mounted motor. One would assume that this iteration uses the bigger battery used in the AWD and the Cyberbeast configurations.

Unfortunately, Tesla also removed a bunch of features as it brought the price down. For instance, the RWD variant doesn't get adaptive suspension, the lightbar at the back is gone, the rear screen is removed and there are no bed outlets. Additionally, the powered tonneau is swapped out for a soft one. You can still add a powered tonneau for an extra $750, which boosts the range to 362 miles as it improves aerodynamics and thus efficiency.

It will be interesting to see if the entry-level version, which appears to be costlier than anticipated, will be welcomed by customers.

The new RWD configuration is now available for order in the US and Mexico.
