Tesla Model Y refresh isn't coming to the US this year
Tesla's refreshed Model 3, codenamed Project Highland, has already launched, so now our attention is naturally turning towards the upcoming refresh of the Model Y. This one has been codenamed Project Juniper and last year we heard that it would be arriving in 2024.
However, according to new information from Tesla itself, that's not going to happen - at least not in the US. Teslascope managed to get the "Model Y Refresh Talking Points" you can see below, which the company sent its delivery advisors to share with customers inquiring about the refresh in the US.
The words are very clear: "there is no refresh for Model Y launching this year". That most likely means the new Model Y will only reach the US in 2025. It might make it to other parts of the world sooner - that's exactly what happened with the new Model 3 - but perhaps not a lot sooner.
For what it's worth, Teslascope's own information "continues to confidently note" that the refresh "is not expected until the very end of this year, going into Q1-Q2 of 2025". Of course it remains to be seen whether that pans out, but the same source did accurately nail the Model 3 refresh's launch time frame in North America previously, so there's that.
The Model Y is by far Tesla's best selling car, and in fact recently became the best selling car overall in Europe, so obviously a lot is riding on this upcoming refresh. Perhaps the company wants to take some more time to make sure it gets everything right.
