Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer orders now open, base price is lower than the ID.7 sedan

Volkswagen is now opening sales for its latest electric offering, the ID.7 Tourer. This all-electric wagon targets the European market with a focus on families and those with active lifestyles.

In its base configuration, the ID.7 Tourer Pro starts at $58,798 in Germany. Interestingly, the Tourer undercuts its sedan sibling by $2,400 without skimping on any equipment. While you won't find hand-stitched leather and exotic wood trims in the ID.7 Tourer, you do get a generous list of standard features.

That list contains smart climate control, a 15-inch tablet-style infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an augmented reality head-up display, LED lighting - both inside and out - and rain-sensing wipers. Also Volkwagen throws in adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and rear-view camera, among other systems.

The ID.7 Tourer's entry-level Pro version comes with a 77 kWh battery promising a range of up to 377 miles per the WLTP test cycle. Powering the rear wheels is a 210 kW (286 hp) electric motor, enabling a top speed of 112 mph. The battery can be topped up at up to 175 kW using the DC fast-charging stations for a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 28 minutes.

Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer has an ample ample 21.4 ft³ trunk that goes up to 60.5 ft³ with the rear seats down.

Of course, Volkswagen also offers a plethora of optional equipment packages if you fancy an even more luxurious experience. These include a three-zone climate system, premium sound system, panoramic glass roof, and more advanced safety aids for those looking for extra reassurance.
