Watch the Tesla Model S Plaid take on a $600k Lamborghini Revuelto in a drag race

Drag races are always fun to watch, and with EVs practically smoking their ICE competition in these, it's even more exciting. Take the Tesla Model S Plaid. It looks like a normal family sedan, and yet it can smoke cars costing multiple times what it does (not that it's cheap, but comparatively).

And so we are once again faced with a drag race pitting the Model S Plaid against a ridiculously expensive sportscar, in this case the $600k Lamborghini Revuelto. It has a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine alongside three electric motors, which all combine to give it 1,015 hp and 1,076 Nm of torque. The Tesla has three electric motors of its own (and no engine of course) which develop 1,020 hp and 1,420 Nm of torque. So, which one will win? Let's take a look.

As you might expect, the Tesla is much heavier than the Lambo, thanks to the batteries. So with the power being very similar and the weight being a huge disadvantage for the Tesla, adding in the fact that the Lambo is a sportscar, you'd expect it to win easily, right?

Well, if you've watched any of these types of drag races before, you probably won't be shocked to hear that the Tesla won most times. Its quickest standing quarter mile was achieved in 9.8 seconds, while the Lamborghini took 9.9 seconds.

However, there is a pretty significant caveat here - this Tesla isn't the Plaid model you buy from the brand itself, it's been modified by a third party, so some of its extra performance could be coming from there. Especially important might be the fact that it's lower to the ground than the 'vanilla' Plaid.

I drove a lambo before. nothing can excite more than a naturally aspirated v12 even in idle. EVs can be an alternative to diesel family cars, not exotic sports cars. besides, EVs are not even better for the environment in their lifecycle.
