Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 interior revealed: Here is how we liked it in person
Some time ago, we were invited to preview Xiaomi’s new SkyNomad N70 and N90, and we can now finally share everything we learned. Until now, the interior of the smaller N70 had remained under wraps, but after spending some time inside, we can reveal how it compares with its larger sibling.
We have already covered the exterior of the SkyNomad N70, which essentially takes the N90’s styling and shrinks it into a slightly smaller package. Much the same applies inside, where the two models look remarkably similar, with only a handful of meaningful differences.
Both use the same 1.5-liter engine as a range extender and offer the same battery options. Naturally, the smaller and lighter N70 is more efficient and manages up to 314 miles of pure electric range. The N90 counters with a larger fuel tank, allowing it to cover greater distances once the range extender comes into play.
The biggest difference is their seating layout. The N70 is a five-seater aimed at personal use and chauffeur-driven executive travel, while the seven-seat N90 is better suited to larger families and groups.
That makes the rear bench of the N70 particularly important. It slides forwards and backwards along rails spanning 5.09 ft, allowing owners to trade enormous amounts of rear legroom for equally impressive cargo capacity. Push the seats back and even the tallest passengers should struggle to complain about space.
Versatility is central to the SkyNomad philosophy. Multiple seating configurations are available, including rotating front seats that allow occupants to face each other while parked and turn the cabin into something closer to a lounge.
Rear passengers also get heated seats, two sets of cup holders and access to a refrigerator controlled through the front center console. Dropping down from the roof is a huge 21.4-inch 3K display that can be used for movies, television or even gaming consoles.
One feature we miss from the N90 is its power operated doors, which are absent from the N70. Hardly essential, of course, but once you have experienced doors opening themselves, doing the job manually suddenly feels surprisingly old-fashioned.
A smaller smartphone style controller for the rear cabin functions will also be offered as an option like in the N90, although our test vehicle was not equipped with it.
Up front, things are almost identical to the N90. Material and build quality are excellent throughout most of the cabin, creating a genuinely luxurious atmosphere.
The steering wheel has an unconventional shape but looks beautifully executed, while the digital instrument cluster provides all the essential information without unnecessary clutter. A highly configurable head-up display completes the driver focused setup with a crisp and clear image.
The 16.1-inch central display is packed with functionality and can even connect directly to Xiaomi’s wider smart home ecosystem. That means owners can control compatible household devices from inside the N70, while certain vehicle functions can also be accessed from home.
Beneath the display sit several shelf-like storage areas that would not look out of place in a living room, reinforcing the cabin’s unusually homely atmosphere.
The center console itself slides forwards and backwards along rails and incorporates charging ports, cup holders, storage compartments and another refrigerator. Impressively, the fridge can continue cooling its contents for several days after the vehicle has been switched off.
With the SkyNomad family, Xiaomi is targeting an intriguing and potentially lucrative niche. The N70 combines the road presence of a rugged SUV with minivan levels of versatility and a genuinely luxurious interior.
For a company founded in 2010 that only started producing cars in 2024, Xiaomi continues to make remarkably ambitious statements with each new model. Rather than simply entering established segments, it is attempting to solve specific customer needs with highly focused products.
The SkyNomad N70 is another example of that philosophy. It caters equally well to families, private owners and chauffeur driven passengers, combining generous space, modern technology, impressive versatility and luxury in one unusually complete package.
