2025 Dacia Spring interior, design and features review

What is it?

The 2025 Dacia Spring is a facelift of Europe's most affordable and highly popular EV. It runs on the same drivetrain and battery options as before but with a new, more modern exterior and considerably nicer interior too.

Starting at just under €17,000, the Spring has a 45hp electric motor and a small 26.8 kWh battery. That's the base Electric 45, but you can also opt for the Electric 65 version, which upgrades the motor to 65 hp.

The available trims are Essential, Expression and Extreme with the latter option only available with the 65 hp motor.

The Spring's natural competitors are the likes of Citroen e-C3 and the Fiat 500, although even those are priced considerably higher than Dacia's offering.

Who is it for?

The Dacia Spring is specifically designed for urban dwellers. It's a small city car with limited room, short range, slow charging and a modest electric motor unsuitable for highway driving.

The Spring is also extremely light for an electric vehicle. It weighs just under a ton, which makes it very efficient for intracity trips.

2025 Dacia Spring at a glance:

  • Dimensions: 145.7 inches x 62.3 inches x 58.5 inches, 95.4 inches wheelbase.
  • Drivetrains available: 26.8 kWh - FWD 33 kW (45 hp), 92 lb-ft; 26.8 kWh - FWD 48 kW (65 hp), 83 lb-ft
  • Charging: 30 kW CCS, 20-80% in 45 min.
  • Range: 142 miles, WLTP
  • Weight: up to 2,169 lb
  • Trunk: EU: 308 l, no frunk

What's great about it?

Obviously, the key selling point of the Dacia Spring is its affordability and suitable size for a city car. It also has a decent boot capacity for your shopping. The interior is a huge improvement over the previous generation Spring, and as we already pointed out, it weighs less than a ton, making it super efficient for the city.

To our surprise, the car also has V2L technology, which turns the Spring into a huge power bank. You can plug in different electric appliances and power them up. This feature is usually found in much more expensive vehicles, so it's nice to see it on a budget model like the Spring.

What's not that good?

Even though we have to appreciate the unmatched price point, there are some annoyances that you should keep in mind. For instance, the back seat has room only for two adults, so it's officially a 4-seater.

Even the 65 hp motor is rather underpowered and when combined with the limited range and slow charging, you quickly realize that anything beyond a shopping run is beyond the capabilities of the duster. The charging tops at 30 kW, taking 45 minutes to charge from 20-80%, so you either charge this one at home overnight or you will be forever waiting at charging stations.

Dacia's offering is also rated with just one star by the Euro NCAP safety agency due to the lack of some modern safety features. And its breaking performance is arguably as poor as its acceleration.

Last but not least, the 2025 Spring still doesn't offer an infotainment display with its base Essential trim.

Which version to get?

The base trim is way too basic even at that price. The good news is that the top Extreme configuration is only €3,000 more. It gives you a more powerful motor, a usable infotainment screen, 15-inch steel rims and a couple of other extras. It also has a much fresher interior with accents.

The additional €3,000 may sound a lot considering the starting price is €16,900, but it's absolutely worth it if you don't want to hate every second you spend inside the Spring.

Then again, at this point you are just over €3,000 short of the Citroen e-C3's asking price, which once again puts the Spring in somewhat awkward position.
