Acura Precision EV concept fully revealed, premiering the brand's new design language

Vlad, 18 August 2022

Last week Acura teased its Precision EV concept showing an incredibly bright grille, and today the brand fully unveiled the car. It's still a concept, but it is an EV and is premiering Acura's new design language, which was created with the electrified era in mind.

This new design language will be first seen in a production car in Acura's range in the form of "a dynamically styled all-electric SUV arriving in 2024".

Apparently the Precision concept was inspired by "the elegance, artistry and harmony of form and function unique to luxury Italian power boats". It has an athletic stance, an expressive silhouette, and "sharp character lines", and it's all dressed up in a Double Apex Blue colorway with a matte finish.

Acura says its Precision EV concept features "a theatrical lighting approach that previews an electric powertrain through a dramatic illuminated evolution of Acura's Diamond Pentagon grille, Chicane daytime running light signature, and new Particle Glitch lighting on the front and rear facias". The "emotional" Particle Glitch theme is in fact repeated on the spokes of the car's 23" wheels.

The interior is all about providing an immersive experience "that engages the driver's senses", and it's inspired by the cockpit of a Formula 1 car, with a low-slung driving position and a two-grip yoke-style steering wheel. There's 100% biomass leather, marbled recycled plastic trim, recycled aluminum, milled FSC certified wood, and recycled cast acrylic too.

There are two modes for the interior - Instinctive Drive for heightening the performance experience, and a calming Spiritual Lounge mode during autonomous operation. The Precision concept also previews the next generation of the Acura HMI with a "hyper-wide, curved transparent display and haptic touch response".

While this concept does look pretty great, it's unclear how much of it will actually make it into that SUV coming in 2024.
