Alfa Romeo shows the Cuorerosso concept, the 8C of the future
Automotive fans always prick up their ears whenever Alfa Romeo starts talking, and what it had to say today at the Paris Motor show has a lot to do with hearts and passion (but little to do with an actual car you'll get to buy soon).
Meet the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso (literally red heart), Alfa's latest 2+2 coupe concept.
Concepts are a preview of a brand's direction (especially in design) and intention, rather than a finished product you're getting on shelves (or dealers, as the case may be).
The Cuorerosso is stunning. It's every bit the evolution of what the Alfa Romeo 8C was and is clearly related to that car (especially from the rear).
Alfa didn't divulge too many specs, but the Cuorerosso is 4,700 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, 1,331 mm tall, and has a 2,930 mm wheelbase.
It weighs 1,750 kg and has a drag coefficient of 0.28. The chassis uses air suspension, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and steer-by-wire steering.
A little bit of 8C in that rear
The body has a truncated rear, rear-hinged doors, an illuminated grille, and a special Liquid Ink Red paint. The alloy wheels, as is tradition with Alfas, are a masterpiece.
Alfa confirmed the Cuorerosso's beautiful shell will play nicely with full electric powertrain, various hybrid setups and even a 2.9-liter V6 from the Giulia Quadrifoglio along with its Q4 AWD system, a conventional torque-converter automatic, and a carbon-fiber driveshaft.
No performance or power figures were mentioned, but the Giulia Quadrifoglio makes over {{500 hp}}.
