Audi Q6 e-tron gets top Euro NCAP rating

The Audi Q6 e-tron made a statement with its electric performance, but now it also offers excellent safety to brag about. The all-electric SUV has earned the coveted "five-star" rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), a renowned independent organization that evaluates vehicle safety. The Q6 e-tron also secured the title of "Best in Class" for child safety, outshining all other vehicles tested in 2023 and 2024.

Euro NCAP tests safety of vehicles across various categories, including adult occupant protection, child safety, vulnerable road user protection, and standard assistance systems. The Audi Q6 e-tron did well in all areas, achieving an impressive 91 percent for adult occupant protection and a remarkable 92 percent for child safety. While these scores translate to an exceptionally safe vehicle, one that provides optimal protection for both drivers and passengers, its 81 percent score for safety of Vulnerable Road Users tells a common story of all large SUVs.

Audi's team of 220 safety experts conducts over 1,000 complex crash tests and approximately 20,000 virtual accident simulations annually, and all that hard work is paying off. Audi has gone above and beyond to integrate features that prioritize the protection of young passengers. The Q6 e-tron is one of the few vehicles in its segment to offer three "i-Size" seats – two in the rear and one in the front passenger seat. "i-Size" is a European standard that guarantees seamless compatibility between child seats of all sizes and vehicles.

The front passenger seat features automatic airbag deactivation when a rear-facing child seat is installed. This intelligent system effectively "understands" when to deactivate the airbag, preventing potential harm to the child in the event of a collision. Audi has also refined the restraint systems to work seamlessly with child seats.

The Euro NCAP safety rating applies to both the Audi Q6 SUV e-tron, unveiled in March, and the upcoming Sportback variant, set to launch in 2025. Audi will officially introduce the Q6 e-tron Sportback to the world at the 2024 Paris Motor Show on October 14th. Both the SUV and Sportback models, including their respective S variants, will benefit from the same exceptional safety features and ratings.

The Q6 e-tron SUV is available with two battery options: an 83 kWh battery and a 100 kWh battery. The 83 kWh battery provides a range of up to 309 miles, while the 100 kWh battery extends the range to 373 miles. The maximum charging capacity of 270 kW allows for rapid charging and minimal downtime.

Pricing for the Audi Q6 e-tron SUV starts at $72,070 in Germany. While pricing for the Sportback variant has yet to be announced, it is expected to be slightly higher than the SUV model.
