BMW expects 20% EV sales' share in 2024, 25% in 2025

BMW delivered a report on the progress it has made in lowering the CO2 emissions of its cars and revealed some bulish expectations on its EV in the process.

While the company was keen to point out that it has met and exceeded the EU targets for emission on the cars it sold in 2023, the really interesting bits concern its expectations about the sales of its EVs.

In 2023 BMW sold 376,183 fully electric vehicles worldwide - that’s 74.4% more than the previous year. It currently sells over 15 fully-electric models, although that counts every drivetrain as its own model.

Either way BMW expectsone in every five newly delivered vehicles in 2024 will be all-electric, and by 2025, that ratio will increase to one in four.

The would mean BMW plans to be among the quickest movers among traditional makers when it comes to electrying their portfolios. Traditional rival Mercedes Benz's only saw 11% EV sales share in its 2023 results, although it will certainly look to not lag far behind.
