Callum Skye - an off-road buggy with a 4 second 0-62 mph time
Ian Callum, the visionary automotive designer known for his Jaguar creations, has embarked on a new adventure with his independent design agency, Callum. Their latest brainchild, the Skye, is an all-new electric buggy set to redefine adventure on wheels, all while keeping our planet in mind.
With a 2+2 seating arrangement and a sleek, fully enclosed cabin, it marries style and substance effortlessly. Its design philosophy blends modernism with functionality, evident in its expansive glass panels, ensuring excellent visibility, and a spacious interior. Standing at approximately 157 inches in length, Skye's in-person presence undoubtedly outshines its initial images.
Ian Callum himself describes the Skye as "dramatically proportioned," and its exterior aesthetic is a testament to its capabilities. This rugged machine has been meticulously engineered to excel in off-road environments while maintaining an easy-to-handle and enjoyable driving experience.
While specifics about its powertrain remain a secret for now, we do know that the Skye is powered by a 42-kilowatt-hour battery pack. It is expected to provide an estimated range of up to 170 miles, and the promise of a lightning-fast "empty-to-full" charge in under ten minutes adds to the intrigue.
With a dry weight rating of 2,535 lb, the Skye is no lightweight, but it's still estimated to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds, making it a potential powerhouse on off-road trails.
As for pricing and availability, the company remains coy. Interested customers are invited to register their interest on a dedicated website, but sets no deadlines.
