Ford F-150 Lightning gets final EPA range estimates ahead of spring deliveries

Last May, Ford took the iconic F-150 pickup truck and made it electric, with the F-150 Lightning. Now we are very close to the start of deliveries in the US, which is due for this spring. As such, the final range estimates from the EPA have been published today, and it's good news for Ford: almost all versions ended up having better range than the company itself estimated before the EPA testing process took place.

The F-150 Lightning Pro SR, XLT SR, and Lariat SR all deliver exactly the 230 miles (370 km) that Ford thought they would. On the other hand, the three ER versions (Pro, XLT, and Lariat) ended up having 20 extra miles than what Ford envisioned, up to 320 miles (515 km) compared to 300.

Finally, the F-150 Lightning Platinum got a 20-mile range boost too, from 280 miles to 300 miles (482 km). Now that the EPA range numbers are final, prospective customers can figure out if this is truly the electric truck for them.

The F-150 Lightning has up to 563 hp in its LR iterations, with a 131 kWh usable capacity battery, a 180 km/h (112 mph) top speed and a claimed 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds.
