Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV unveiled ahead of 2026 debut
Honda's 0-series EVs, the Saloon and SUV debuted in prototype form at this year's CES 2025. The duo will go on sale in 2026 and Honda claims it's about pushing the boundaries of design and technology.
The 0 Saloon, a refined version of the 2024 Saloon concept, still has the same futuristic, aerodynamic design. Its low-slung profile, retracting headlights, and distinctive rear lights make it a conversation starter. The 0 SUV shares some design cues with the Saloon, but thankfully offers a more practical and spacious option for those needing extra cargo room. Both vehicles feature minimalist interiors dominated by digital displays and a yoke-style steering wheel.
The 0-series EVs are expected to offer rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options. Honda's latest electric motors, with outputs ranging from 67 to 241 horsepower, are likely to power these vehicles. A thin lithium-ion battery pack is projected to provide an EPA-rated range of around 300 miles.
The EVs will feature a steer-by-wire system, eliminating the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels for improved responsiveness and efficiency. Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities, enabled by Helm.ai's software and Honda's AI, will allow drivers to take their eyes off the road in certain conditions.
The 0-series will debut Honda's next-generation vehicle operating system, ASIMO OS. This in-house developed system integrates driver-assistance systems, infotainment, and over-the-air updates, promising a seamless and connected driving experience. A high-performance system-on-chip (SoC), developed in partnership with Renesas, will power ASIMO OS and the Level 3 autonomous driving system.
The 0-series EVs will come with the NACS charge port in North America. Honda is incorporating smart charging features when at home, allowing the vehicles to automatically charge during off-peak hours or when renewable energy sources are available. Apart from access to Tesla's Supercharger network, Honda is part of IONNA, a joint venture with seven other automakers aiming to establish 30,000 charging stations by 2030.
