Kia just unveiled its 2026 EV4 in sedan and hatchback forms, aiming to provide a budget-friendly option for those looking for an EV with a solid range. The hatchback version will be available in Europe, the United States will receive the sedan. With a targeted starting price of around $35,000, the EV4 will bridge the gap between higher-priced EVs and the growing demand for accessible electric transportation.

The EV4 sedan measures 186.2 inches in length, it has a 111 inches wheelbase, and it offers ample interior space, including a roomy rear seat and a 17.3 ft³ trunk. The hatchback has a little less cargo space at 15.4 ft³ since it is exactly 11.8 inches shorter at 174.4 inches. Inside, a 30-inch display dominates the dashboard, integrating screens for the driver, climate control, and infotainment.

Both versions of the EV4 will offer two battery options: a standard 58.3kWh pack and a long-range 81.4kWh pack. Kia estimates the larger battery will provide approximately 330 miles of range based on US testing standards. The WLTP rating for the sedan with a larger battery stands at 391 miles. The EV4 hatchback gets a slightly lower WLTP rating of 367 miles.

The new EV4, either hatchback or the sedan, is powered by a 201hp front motor. Kia claims the larger battery models can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in around 7.7 seconds, while the smaller battery version achieves it in 7.4 seconds. Charging is handled through a 400-volt architecture, allowing for 11 kW Level 2 charging. DC fast-charging can replenish the larger battery from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes, and the smaller battery in 29 minutes. The EV4 also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities, enabling it to power external devices or contribute energy back to the grid.

Kia has incorporated Highway Driving Assist 2 in the EV4. This system includes features such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision avoidance. Kia aims for the EV4 to achieve top safety ratings, including five-star ratings from Euro NCAP and US NCAP, as well as an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

Features like Digital Key 2.0 allow smartphone access and remote control, while the i-Pedal 3.0 system provides adjustable regenerative braking. The infotainment system supports streaming services like YouTube and Netflix, and Kia's AI Assistant enhances voice recognition. Production for the Korean market begins in March, with the European models to follow in the second half of the year. The US versions are expected to roll off the assembly line later this year or early 2026.
