Lynk & Co Zero EV spotted in China ahead of its debut

Geely Auto's ever-expanding lineup of electric vehicles is about to grow even bigger. Hot on the heels of the Zeekr 001, another Geely subsidiary, Lynk & Co, is introducing a sleek new performance EV sedan – the Lynk & Co Zero. While much about the Zero remains under wraps, recent shots show us why this four-door could soon be shaking up the EV market.

Visually, the Zero shares much of its design language with recent Lynk & Co models. It sports the brand's signature split headlights and smooth, sculpted lines hinting at Lotus Emeya design influence (another Geely-owned company). With a length of around 197 inches, the Zero boasts dimensions that put it in the same realm as other premium sport sedans.

The real excitement lies beneath the surface. The Lynk & Co Zero will use Geely's SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) EV platform – the same one underpinning the impressive Zeekr 001. Early speculation suggests that the Zero could feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with 580 kW (approximately 780 horsepower) of power and a potential 408 miles of range. And that's just the base model.

Rumors point toward a high-performance Zero variant with a quad-motor layout, four-wheel steering, and potentially hypercar-like acceleration - 0 to 62 mph in just over two seconds. All this in a package that offers the space and practicality of a sedan.

The Lynk & Co Zero isn't just about raw performance; it's about ushering in Geely's vision of the electric future. China, the world's largest car market, rapidly embraces EVs, with sales figures surpassing many industry predictions. Lynk & Co, focusing on value-packed plug-in hybrid models, has been playing catch-up to its EV-centric sibling, Zeekr. However, the scales may tip with the Zero, potentially widening the sales gap between the two Geely companies.

The Lynk & Co Zero promises thrilling dynamics, spaciousness, and eye-catching design. Its official unveiling in Sweden next month is highly anticipated, with a market launch expected in mid-2024. With an estimated starting price of around RMB 200,000 ($27,600) in China, Zero could be a formidable player in the premium EV segment.
