Maserati Grecale Folgore real world range test
Maserati is one of the world's most recognizable brand names and is an echelon of luxury and prestige. Even though the brand has aimed at more mass-market models in recent years, its pure-bred roots allow it to maintain one of the best reputations in the automotive industry, and it is with great pleasure that we approach the chance to review the electric Grecale Folgore. The ICE version has been on sale for a few years, but the Italians first started delivering the all-electric Folgore a few months ago.
We have the 550 hp version at our disposal, but the power figures are not the point of this article. This great power is supported by a hefty 105 kWh battery, which should also provide sufficient range on which we'll focus right now. Our full review of the Grecale Folgore is coming soon.
We drove our usual test routes, doing the same track both ways at constant speeds at the same place as with every other car we test. The ambient temperature while testing the Maserati Grecale Folgore was 88°F, which isn't optimal weather for such testing, meaning the results could be better in somewhat colder temperatures.
At our lowest testing speed of 37 mph, the weighty Maserati shows an okay result given its mass and drag coefficient of 0.305 Cd. The electronics on board seem to be efficient as the result is close to smaller and more efficient vehicles.

Once we move on to the test speed of 56 mph, the Maserati is one of the best in the league of the powerful giants. Its battery capacity, combined with the powerful and obviously efficient motors, results in an estimated range at a speed of over 342 miles. Such figures are commendable, especially for a bulky SUV with an abundance of electronics on board.
At our highest testing speed of 81 mph, the Grecale Folgore impresses with its results, which are better than those of its direct competitors, despite the higher air temperatures during the testing. However, it is no match for the more aerodynamic sedans, but that is a price you have to pay for the added practicality.
The Maserati Grecale Folgore is a great product from one of the most aristocratic brands. In that model, you don't pay only for the brand, and you don't have to put up with any compromises, which was the case with its recent models. In the Grecale Folgore you get a perfect mix between luxury, technology, speed and range for an all-around excellent vehicle. It isn't the most efficient vehicle ever, but is a sublime combination of all characteristics into a single vehicle.
