Mercedes announces the pricing of the AMG EQS sedan
Mercedes revealed the price of its first-ever AMG electric vehicle - the AMG EQS. The performance sedan will go on sale in the US and Europe in late spring 2022, starting at $147,500 or €135,000, but expect those prices to be higher come buying time.
The AMG EQS Sedan relies on a 400V 107.8 kWh battery, while its motors produce 649 hp with a maximum torque of 950 nm, and up to 751 hp and just north of 1000 nm with the boost function.
In the US, the AMG EQS Sedan comes in two trim levels - Exclusive and Pinnacle. But even as standard, the AMG EQS comes with a lot of niceties.
For starters, the AMG EQS Sedan gets the Hyperscreen, a 56-inch curved glass entertainment screen that's made up of three individual displays. It's paired to Mercedes' adaptive MBUX software, which over time tailors itself to the driver.
All AMG EQS Sedan models come with AMG's Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. It leverages the dual front and rear electric motors to provide traction. Mercedes praises the electro-specific system as 'significantly faster' than its mechanical rivals, with the ability to perform up to 10,000 torque checks per minute.
AMG's Ride Control+ adaptive air suspension offers adjustable damping through a four-link axle at the front and a multi-link one at the rear.
On the inside the AMG EQS Sedan can be configured with heated and ventilated front seats, leather seats or even active multi-contour front seats with massage and comfort headrests. There's also optional wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, and Burmeister Surround Sound System with 3D Sound.
AMG EQS Sedan buyers can enjoy two years of complimentary 30 minute DC fast charging with Electrify America Network, and two years of free maintenance.
Mercedes says the AMG EQS Sedan will start deliveries in late spring of 2022.
