Tesla Cybertruck: new leak shows different tire size

Max McDee, 10 August 2023

Another day, another Tesla Cybertruck sighting. You may have seen the memes, the chatter, the wild speculations, and oh, those super "subtle" glimpses Tesla keeps giving us. Well, they're at it again, and this time, it's all about the shoes the truck is wearing.

Fresh visuals, courtesy of the Instagram user @triggertx, spotlight the Cybertruck sporting some brand-new kicks. These images show that Tesla, like every sensible car company out there, is trying out more than one tire size for the Cybertruck.

The most recent snapshot showcased tires sized at 285/65R20. Translated to everyday speak? That’s a good 35 inches of tire wrapped around a shiny 20-inch rim.

You might remember a little while back another prototype was spotted, sporting slightly beefier 315/60R20 tires. They looked a bit more robust, 1.2 inches wider to be exact. And, they seemed to be twinning with the ones we saw on the 2019 prototype.

Here's an interesting tidbit: the Cybertruck is currently getting all dressed up for its grand debut at Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory. If the whispers are to be believed, it should be making a grand entrance next month, giving us all a look after its rather fashionable tardiness.

There's always someone looking to add a little more sparkle, and the EV tuning connoisseurs, Unplugged Performance, have introduced their line of wheels for the Cybertruck already. With sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches, starting at a modest $5,992, it seems the Cybertruck is already becoming quite a fashionable vehicle - even before it’s actually launched.

Tesla is clearly hard at work, ensuring the Cybertruck isn't just another pretty face (can we really say that about the Cybertruck?) but comes equipped with the right set of wheels (and tires) to back up its visual performance. And while it’s taken its sweet time to get here, let's hope it's worth the wait!
