BMW iX3 gets more range ahead of its US launch

Vlad, 29 April 2026

While BMW has already launched the new iX3 in many markets, it hasn't officially landed in the US yet. Ahead of that, it's received a boosted range estimate from its maker for the US market (using the EPA testing cycle). The iX3 xDrive50 version is now estimated by BMW to reach 434 miles on one charge using the EPA testing cycle, up from the previously advertised number of 400 miles.

Do keep in mind that these are still estimates - the EPA hasn't yet published the official number. Still, it's good to see the fact that BMW believes its newest EV has what it takes to go over 400 miles on one charge.

There aren't a ton of EVs in the US market that can claim this feat. The iX3 will also be among the fastest charging EVs in the US market, as it can be charged at up to 400kW DC thanks to its 800V platform. If you can find a charger that supports that, the iX3 can gain up to 175 miles of range within just 10 minutes of charging, while going from 10% to 80% will take only 21 minutes.

The formal US launch of the iX3 is planned for May, with the online configurator expected to go live in June. iX3 models for the US market are going to then start rolling off the assembly line in early September, with the first deliveries to customers taking place in the US in late September or early October.

The iX3 will start from about $60,000 in the US, but of course there will be plenty of optional equipment to choose from so the price can go up very quickly. If you're interested in it, don't miss our real-world range test.
